6 Ways to Encourage One Another

Words: Proverbs 16:24, Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the bones.
Does your kidding around touch on someone's weakness?
Or do your words encourage them on?

Greetings: Melissa experienced this recently when she returned to church after an absence. II Corinthians 13:12, Greet one another with a holy kiss. Her brother's and sister's in Christ opened their arms and welcomed her back in away that filled her with the desire to return again. Be sincere in your greeting of one another and in your parting. A hug, a kiss, a handshake can mean more to someone than you will ever know. Think how Melissa may have felt if she had not received the type of welcome she did. Give a hearty I love the Lord greeting to those you meet. Not a limp handshake.

Compassion: I Peter 3:8-9(NIV), ...live in harmony with one another; be sypaththetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil, or insult with insult, but with blessings, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. When I lost my Father a friend came by, no words were spoken. She just held me and we cried. Express sympathy to those who hurt. Show you care. That hug meant more to me than I can tell you.

Act: Be a doer! Back up your words of encouragement with action. A card, a letter, a phone call, a helping hand can help make a burden lighter or a task finished sooner. James 1:22, ...be ye doers of the word and not just hearers only. We're not suppose to sit back and just have faith that everything will be fine. James 2:26, For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Smile: Ecclesiastes 8:1, ...a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed. When I picture Jesus tending to someone's needs, I always picture Him smiling, His eyes bright with the love and understanding that only wisdom can bring. I remember the first time I had to speak in front of a group of women attending our church for a special meeting. I thought my knees would go out from under me. One of the ladies from our church looked directly at me and smiled. I knew she was praying for me just from that smile and it strengthened me. The Bible speaks in many places of the Lord's face shining on us. Let your face shine for Jesus!
What sunshine is to flowers, Smiles are to people...so SMILE!

Pray: James 5:16, Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Prayer is a direct line to the Lord and a powerful tool that He has given us to use for each other. I encourage you to use it daily for those in need and just for a friendly visit with the One who loves us most.

To the graduates of Class 101, I would like to remind you why we encourage one another. We are to help others accept Christ as Savior and to be obedient to His will. We are to make the body of Christ stronger. We are to encourage each other in their daily life; at work, parenting, and even at play. Let's help to make their walk with the Lord be filled with a little more Love & Joy!
